The WIF®
...and why there had to be a better way
The Big Problem: Content
Every time I read about web developers and designers waiting on content and projects never completing my heart sank.
I asked myself, was there a way to help make this stop and make it better?
There had to be a better way. A way which was a win-win for the web agency and the client.
Our clients are experts in their own field, they simply just don’t know how to articulate it and web agencies are not content creators who could magic content out of thin air.
So, how could I make this better for both the web agency and the owner-manager (the client)?
"Implementing the WIF into my process has not only sped up the project but it also further positions me as the website expert. If you are looking for a proven process to help you educate and gather website content from your client faster then I would definitely recommend the WIF."
Simon Kay, Web Designer, StudioK 360
The Real Problem: Identity
The real problem goes one step back from the content because your clients (the amazing owner-managers out there) don’t know what they want their content to say.
Owner-Managers get stuck in explaining the mechanics of what they do and how they do it and can’t see how their offering can be explained from their customer’s perspective or even know how they truly help their clients.
"I can really get inside my clients' head and help them to extract their thoughts and ideas, giving them focus and confidence in what they are doing, and reflect this in their website."
David Hibbert, Web Developer, FluidWeb
Why The WIF® Is The Solution
The WIF is the solution to plug the gap between signing off a proposal and building the website. But it’s more ‘micro’ than filling that huge chasm between sign off and build.
The WIF is a process to start off any web project. You work with your client to unravel together what the business is truly about and how that business takes their clients on the journey of transformation but from the perspective of your client’s prospect.
It educates by ‘doing’ and gives your clients the right understanding and mindset and creates the right foundations for the content to flow easily.
"The WIF helps agencies to help their clients by forcing them to consider THEIR customer AND the overall customer journey BEFORE deciding on the elements that are needed on a website.."
Beth Livingston, The WP Project Manager's Academy
Who Am I To Help You?
One of the most difficult things I found to do in my own web agency was to ‘find my own identity’.
I followed many different pieces of advice from different sources and although helpful, I just didn’t ‘get it’.
I struggled to work out who I was and how I actually helped people so if I couldn’t work that out, how could I begin to write a single line of words, let alone a single line of code.
Implementing and following a process to discover website identity means…
- The content will flow
- The website structure you’ll know
- The customer journey you’ll sow
- A business will grow
If you have any questions, then just get in touch.
